Collecting Hot wheels the right way!

I think everyone from about the 1800's has been exposed to or has owned an automobile. I remember being in school and being educated by my teacher about the first car ever made, it was the beginning of my car infatuation.

The dream of driving with car insurance and having the trust of my parents was somewhat of a dream in my younger days. My dad made sure we learned and had an education in stick shift transmissions (standard).

1. What does this have to do with collecting hot wheels you say?

The understanding of how to drive gave me a need to invest in cars and since I would never own more than one at a time I went to die cast collectables.

2. Who likes Die cast collectables?

Well most hot wheels were made with a die cast metal and so the reference to this term was born

3. Where do you buy them?

Most toy stores in the greater U.S. will carry them with a few surprises like Thrift stores, Wal-Mart, Target and Sav-On, just to name a few.

4. What is a treasure hunt?

The hot wheel market was injected with a new variant called the Treasure Hunt; this collection is either repainted or has a significant difference to the regular issue of this car. The display card will also have "Treasure Hunt labeled in the front.

5. Why can't I find these Treasure Hunt for sale at my local toy store?

I want to be very careful about how to answer this question. I recently went to find some toys and found out that there are some dishonest employees who call all their buddies to come and scavenge the boxes before they are displayed into the racks. I even caught two of them as I arrived to look at a hot wheel case and they we annoyed that I was looking for the same products.

6. Who is in charge of fairly allocating the products out to the display floor so everyone will get a chance to find these rare products?

Most managers are also in on the dishonesty so there is no real fair way to deal with this. I can only say you may want to befriend an employee and hope for the best.

7. Collecting Hot wheels is hard, how can I get more information on this?

I would first visit my local book store, Barnes and Nobles, etc. Most large bookstore chains will have a great selection of collecting Hot wheels books in stock.

8. Is there a good long term value in collecting the hot wheel brand?

I do believe that about 25% of the each year hot wheels go up in value within the first two months of release. I have noticed that after five years 20% of the cars go up about 20% so there is a good future for this line of cars and would give it thumbs up to collect for future investment.
